Community Guidelines and Prohibited Items Policy

Effective Date: June 19, 2026

Last Updated: June 19, 2026

1. Introduction

This Community Guidelines and Prohibited Items Policy explains the rules that apply to users, listings, messages, reviews, rental requests, rental activity, and platform conduct on ToyRental.ca.

ToyRental.ca is an online advertising, listing, communication, booking request, and connection platform. We allow users to post items for rent and allow other users to discover, request, and arrange rentals directly with those listing owners.

ToyRental.ca is not a rental company, insurer, broker, agent, manufacturer, supplier, inspector, guarantor, payment holder, or party to rental agreements between users.

This policy is intended to help protect users, reduce unsafe listings, reduce fraud, maintain platform trust, support moderation decisions, and explain what is not allowed on ToyRental.ca.

By creating an account, posting a listing, requesting a rental, approving a rental, sending a message, leaving a review, paying a ToyRental.ca fee, or otherwise using ToyRental.ca, you agree to this Community Guidelines and Prohibited Items Policy.

If you do not agree with this policy, do not use ToyRental.ca.

2. Relationship to Other Policies

This policy is part of ToyRental.ca’s legal and safety rules and should be read together with our:

  • Terms of Use.
  • Privacy Policy.
  • Refund and Credit Policy.
  • Safety and Risk Policy.
  • Any other policy, warning, notice, rule, or guideline posted on ToyRental.ca.

If this policy conflicts with another ToyRental.ca policy, ToyRental.ca may decide which policy applies based on the circumstances, the risk involved, applicable law, user safety, and platform integrity.

Nothing in this policy limits ToyRental.ca’s right to remove listings, restrict accounts, suspend users, terminate accounts, deny access, refuse service, report conduct, or take other platform action where ToyRental.ca believes it is appropriate.

3. Basic Community Rules

Users must act honestly, safely, respectfully, and lawfully when using ToyRental.ca.

Users must not:

  • Use ToyRental.ca for illegal, unsafe, fraudulent, abusive, harmful, or misleading activity.
  • Post false, misleading, incomplete, deceptive, or bait-and-switch listings.
  • List items they do not own or do not have legal authority to rent.
  • List stolen, counterfeit, unsafe, recalled, illegal, prohibited, or restricted items.
  • Misrepresent item condition, availability, price, location, safety, requirements, or rental terms.
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, intimidate, defraud, spam, stalk, exploit, or discriminate against another person.

  • Misuse messages, reviews, reports, support tools, refund requests, or booking features.

ToyRental.ca may remove content or restrict users where conduct creates legal, safety, financial, operational, reputational, technical, user, or platform risk.

4. User Eligibility and Account Rules

Users must be at least 18 years old to create an account, post listings, request rentals, approve rentals, pay ToyRental.ca fees, or use rental-related features.

Users must not:

  • Create accounts using false, stolen, incomplete, or misleading information.
  • Impersonate another person, business, organization, or representative.
  • Create duplicate accounts to avoid restrictions, suspensions, reviews, bad ratings, payment issues, or policy enforcement.

ToyRental.ca may require email verification, additional information, or account review before allowing access to certain features.

5. Listing Standards

Hosts are responsible for all listings they create.

Listings must be accurate, lawful, complete, and not misleading.

Every listing should clearly disclose:

  • The item being offered.
  • The item’s true condition.
  • The item’s rental price.
  • The rental rate type, such as hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly.
  • Availability.
  • Approximate location or service area.
  • Pickup, return, or delivery expectations.
  • Known defects, damage, missing parts, or limitations.
  • Safety requirements.
  • Training, licence, permit, experience, supervision, or insurance requirements, where applicable.
  • Deposit expectations, if any.
  • Cleaning, fuel, battery, accessory, or return requirements, where applicable.
  • Any restrictions on use.

A listing must not hide important information that would reasonably affect a renter’s decision to request, rent, transport, use, supervise, or return the item.

6. Listing Photos and Media

Listing photos, videos, and media must accurately show the item being offered.

Users must not upload:

  • Photos they do not have permission to use.
  • Stolen photos.
  • Misleading stock photos.
  • Photos of a different item.
  • Photos that hide important damage or defects.
  • Photos containing private information, identification documents, payment information, or confidential information.
  • Offensive, hateful, adult, violent, exploitative, threatening, or unlawful images.
  • Images that violate another person’s privacy, copyright, trademark, or other rights.

ToyRental.ca may resize, crop, compress, reorder, hide, remove, or moderate listing media at any time.

7. Pricing and Fee Transparency

Hosts are responsible for accurately displaying rental prices and explaining any rental money, deposits, damage deposits, delivery fees, pickup fees, late fees, cleaning fees, fuel charges, repair charges, replacement charges, or other amounts they expect renters to pay directly to them.

Hosts must not use misleading pricing, bait-and-switch pricing, hidden mandatory charges, fake discounts, false urgency, or deceptive claims about price.

ToyRental.ca fees are separate from rental money between hosts and renters. ToyRental.ca fees are charged directly by ToyRental.ca for platform-related services and are governed by the Refund and Credit Policy.

Users must not misrepresent ToyRental.ca fees, claim ToyRental.ca fees are insurance, claim ToyRental.ca fees are rental payments to hosts, or claim ToyRental.ca guarantees rentals, payments, deposits, damage, theft, loss, or safety.

8. Prohibited Items - General Rule

Users may not list, request, rent, offer, advertise, promote, arrange, or facilitate items or services that are illegal, unsafe, stolen, counterfeit, recalled, prohibited, restricted, misleading, or inappropriate for ToyRental.ca.

ToyRental.ca may prohibit or restrict any item, category, service, user, listing, rental, or activity at any time, even if the item or activity is not specifically named in this policy.

18. Animals and Live Creatures

Users must not list, request, rent, advertise, promote, arrange, or facilitate animals, pets, livestock, wildlife, live creatures, animal breeding, animal transport, animal entertainment, or animal-related services unless ToyRental.ca specifically permits the category in writing or through a platform feature.

19. Vehicles, Trailers, Watercraft, and Regulated Transportation Items

ToyRental.ca may allow, restrict, or prohibit listings involving vehicles, trailers, watercraft, motorized equipment, towing equipment, and regulated transportation items depending on platform rules, safety concerns, insurance concerns, licensing requirements, and legal requirements.

Renters are responsible for confirming that they can lawfully and safely transport, tow, operate, store, and return the item.

ToyRental.ca does not verify licences, permits, insurance, vehicle compatibility, towing capacity, roadworthiness, waterworthiness, registration, safety certificates, or legal compliance.

Emergencies, crimes, threats, thefts, accidents, injuries, dangerous situations, or urgent safety concerns should be reported to emergency services, law enforcement, insurers, legal advisors, or other appropriate authorities.

40. No Waiver of ToyRental.ca Rights

ToyRental.ca’s decision not to remove a listing, not to restrict a user, not to respond to a report, or not to enforce a rule in one situation does not waive ToyRental.ca’s right to enforce any rule later or in another situation.

ToyRental.ca may update, interpret, apply, or enforce this policy at its discretion, subject to applicable law.
