How ToyRental.ca Works

Rent toys nearby, list toys you are not using, and keep the process simple from request to return.

Find rentals near you

ToyRental.ca can start with an estimated location based on your internet connection. You can also search a specific city or allow device location for better nearby results.

Request the rental

Choose the rental, dates, pickup or delivery details, and send a request to the host. The host reviews and accepts, declines, or asks questions.

Return and review

After the rental, return the item in the agreed condition, confirm everything is complete, and leave a review to help the community.

Important note about location

Internet-based location is only an estimate. Some internet providers, satellite internet, mobile networks, and VPNs may show a nearby major city instead of your exact town. For the best results, search your city manually or allow device location when available.

How it works for renters

Rent the stuff your family wants without having to buy, store, and resell everything later.

1

Set your area

Start by browsing nearby listings. The site may estimate your area automatically, but you can search a city or allow device location for better local results.

Example: Toronto, Welland, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Ottawa, or any supported city.

2

Browse listings

Search by category, location, price, availability, delivery option, or keyword. Open a listing to review photos, description, rules, pricing, deposit details, and host information.

Look for clear photos, complete descriptions, and positive host reviews.

3

Send a rental request

Pick your requested dates and include a short message. Mention anything the host should know, such as pickup timing or delivery needs.

A clear request helps the host respond faster.

4

Wait for host approval

The host reviews the request. They may approve it, decline it, or message you for more details. Nothing should be considered confirmed until the host accepts the booking.

Keep communication inside ToyRental.ca when possible for any possible dispute resolution.

5

Arrange pickup, delivery, and payment

Once approved, confirm pickup or delivery details with the host. Review the rental condition, security deposit, return time, late return rules, cleaning expectations, and any damage policy.

Toyrental will charge a 15% platform fee when the rental is approved.

6

Inspect the rental at pickup

Before taking the rental, check its condition with the host. Confirm any existing marks, missing pieces, batteries, accessories, instructions, and safety notes.

We suggest taking photos before and after the rental.

7

Enjoy the rental

Use the rental responsibly and safely and follow the host’s rules. Keep all pieces together and store the rental safely during the rental period.

Contact the host quickly if something unexpected happens.

8

Return on time

Return the rental at the agreed time and location. Make sure all accessories, pieces etc. are returned with it.

Clean or reset the rental if that was part of the host’s rules.

9

Leave a review

After the rental, leave an honest review about the rental and your experience with the host. Reviews help other ToyRental users choose reliable listings.

Hosts can also review renters.

How it works for hosts

Turn stuff your not using into extra income while helping other ToyRental users access more options.

1

Create your account

Sign up and complete your profile. A clear display name, location, and profile photo can help renters feel more comfortable sending requests.

Keep your contact and notification settings up to date.

2

Create a listing

Add a title, category, photos, description, location, rental price, deposit amount, delivery options, availability, and rental rules.

Good listings answer common renter questions before they ask.

3

Add clear photos

Upload photos from multiple angles. Include accessories or instructions where helpful.

Clear photos reduce disputes and increase trust.

4

Set pricing and rules

Decide whether you offer hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly pricing. Add deposit expectations, late return rules, cleaning requirements, pickup windows and delivery fees.

Be specific about what is included with the rental.

5

Manage availability

Keep your calendar accurate. Block off dates when the rental is unavailable, already rented, being cleaned, being repaired, or reserved.

Accurate availability avoids declined requests.

6

Review rental requests

When a renter sends a request, review the dates, message, and any special details. Approve, decline, or ask questions before confirming.

Responding quickly improves the renter experience.

7

Prepare the rental

Before pickup or delivery, make sure the rental is clean, functional, complete, charged if needed, and ready for the renter.

Take quick condition photos before handoff if able.

8

Handoff and return

Confirm the renter understands how to use the rental, what is included, and when it must be returned. At return, inspect the rental and confirm all parts are back.

Handle concerns calmly and document issues right away.

9

Complete and review

Once the rental is returned, complete the booking and leave an honest review for the renter.

Reviews help build a trusted rental community.

Safety, trust, and good rentals

A smooth rental depends on clear communication, realistic expectations, and proper documentation.

Keep communication clear

Use messages to confirm dates, pickup or delivery location, included pieces, payment details, deposit expectations, return time, cleaning rules, and what happens if something is damaged.

Take condition photos

Both renters and hosts should take photos at pickup and return. Photos are useful for confirming existing wear, missing pieces, cleanliness, accessories, and return condition.

Meet safely

Use practical pickup and delivery arrangements. Choose a reasonable location, confirm who is meeting, and avoid last-minute changes that create confusion.

Confirm the return

At return, confirm all pieces, accessories, chargers, manuals, cases, and attachments are included. Hosts should inspect the item before releasing or resolving any deposit arrangement.

Rental responsibility

Renters are expected to return items on time and in the agreed condition. Hosts are expected to provide accurate listings, clean and working items, clear rules, and fair communication. Do not rent items that are unsafe, recalled, broken, incomplete in a way that affects safe use.

Common questions

Not always. IP-based location is only an estimate. It may show the nearest major city, especially with satellite internet, mobile networks, VPNs, and some internet providers. Manual city search or device location is more accurate.

Hosts set their own rental prices, deposit expectations, delivery fees, availability, and rules. Renters should review the listing carefully before sending a request.

No. A request is only a request. The host must approve it before the rental should be treated as confirmed. Hosts may decline if the item is unavailable, the dates do not work, or the request is not a good fit.

Communicate right away, keep photos, and document what happened. Hosts and renters should compare pickup and return condition, review the agreed rental terms, and resolve the issue fairly.
