Payment and Platform Fee Disclosure

Effective Date: July 19, 2026

Last Updated: July 19, 2026

1. Introduction

This Payment and Platform Fee Disclosure explains how ToyRental.ca fees work, how they differ from rental money paid directly between users, what ToyRental.ca fees are for, what ToyRental.ca fees are not for, and what users should understand before paying any fee through ToyRental.ca.

ToyRental.ca is an online advertising, listing, communication, booking request, and connection platform. ToyRental.ca allows users to advertise items for rent and allows other users to discover, request, and arrange rentals directly with those listing owners.

ToyRental.ca is not a rental company, rental supplier, item owner, item operator, broker, agent, insurer, escrow provider, payment holder, damage protection provider, collection agency, mediator, arbitrator, court, or party to rental agreements between users.

By creating an account, posting a listing, requesting a rental, approving a rental, paying a ToyRental.ca fee, using checkout, sending a message, or otherwise using ToyRental.ca, you agree to this Payment and Platform Fee Disclosure.

If you do not agree with this disclosure, do not pay any ToyRental.ca fee and do not use paid features on ToyRental.ca.

2. Relationship to Other Policies

This Payment and Platform Fee Disclosure should be read together with ToyRental.ca’s:

If this disclosure conflicts with another ToyRental.ca policy, ToyRental.ca may decide which policy applies based on the specific issue, the fee involved, applicable law, user safety, platform risk, and the purpose of the policy.

Nothing in this disclosure limits any legal right that cannot be waived or limited under applicable law.

3. Key Payment Summary

The most important payment rules are:

  • Hosts and renters handle rental payments directly with each other.
  • ToyRental.ca fees are charged for platform-related services.
  • ToyRental.ca fees are not insurance.
  • ToyRental.ca fees are not damage deposits or security deposits.
  • ToyRental.ca fees are not rental payments to the host.

  • ToyRental.ca fees do not guarantee that a rental will occur.
  • ToyRental.ca fees do not guarantee that an item is safe, available, legal, insured, or as described.
  • ToyRental.ca fees do not protect against theft, loss, damage, injury, death, non-return, late return, or disputes.
  • Refunds are limited and are governed by the Refund and Credit Policy.
  • Credits are usually the normal remedy for platform-related issues where ToyRental.ca decides a remedy is appropriate.

4. Definitions

For the purpose of this disclosure:

  • “ToyRental.ca Fee” means any fee charged directly by ToyRental.ca, including a platform fee, booking fee, connection fee, administrative fee, listing fee, featured listing fee, promotional fee, advertising fee, subscription fee, verification fee, account fee, or any other platform-related fee.

  • “Host” means a user who lists, owns, controls, manages, approves, releases, or rents an item through ToyRental.ca.

  • “Platform Service” means the online tools and services provided by ToyRental.ca, including listing tools, search tools, booking request tools, connection tools, messaging tools, account tools, administrative tools, support tools, review tools, trust and safety tools, and payment-related tools for ToyRental.ca fees.

  • “Payment Processor” means a third-party payment provider used by ToyRental.ca to process ToyRental.ca fees.
  • “Credit” means a ToyRental.ca platform credit that may be applied toward eligible future ToyRental.ca fees, subject to ToyRental.ca policy.

5. ToyRental.ca Does Not Collect Rental Money Between Users

ToyRental.ca does not collect, receive, hold, manage, release, guarantee, process, transfer, refund, or distribute rental money between hosts and renters.

Hosts and renters are responsible for arranging rental payments directly with each other.

Rental money may include, without limitation:

  • The rental price for the item.
  • Cash paid to a host.
  • E-transfer payments paid to a host.
  • Deposits paid to a host.
  • Damage deposits paid to a host.
  • Security deposits paid to a host.
  • Delivery fees paid to a host.
  • Pickup fees paid to a host.
  • Late return fees paid to a host.
  • Cleaning fees paid to a host.
  • Fuel or battery charges paid to a host.
  • Repair costs paid to a host.
  • Replacement costs paid to a host.
  • Cancellation charges paid to a host.
  • Any other amount paid directly between host and renter.

ToyRental.ca is not responsible for unpaid rental money, fake payment confirmations, reversed payments, chargebacks, cash disputes, e-transfer disputes, deposit disputes, refund disputes, collection issues, or any other payment issue between users.

6. ToyRental.ca Fees Are Separate From Rental Money

A ToyRental.ca fee is separate from rental money paid between a host and renter.

A ToyRental.ca fee may be charged for access to or use of platform services, including:

  • Submitting a booking request.
  • Processing a booking request through ToyRental.ca.
  • Connecting a renter with a host.
  • Unlocking or enabling messaging features.
  • Providing listing tools.
  • Providing search tools.
  • Providing booking tools.
  • Providing account tools.
  • Providing administrative processing.
  • Providing booking records.
  • Providing support tools.
  • Providing trust and safety tools.
  • Providing review tools.
  • Providing featured listing, advertising, or promotional tools.
  • Operating, maintaining, supporting, securing, and improving the platform.

A ToyRental.ca fee is not paid to the host unless ToyRental.ca expressly says otherwise in writing.

A ToyRental.ca fee does not reduce, replace, include, or satisfy any rental money owed directly between host and renter.

7. What ToyRental.ca Fees Are Not

ToyRental.ca fees are not:

  • Rental payments to hosts.
  • Deposits.
  • Damage deposits.
  • Security deposits.
  • Cleaning deposits.
  • Late return deposits.
  • Insurance premiums.
  • Protection plans.
  • Damage protection coverage.
  • Theft protection coverage.
  • Loss protection coverage.
  • Accident coverage.
  • Injury coverage.
  • Guarantees.
  • Escrow payments.
  • Money held for a host.
  • Money held for a renter.
  • Compensation funds.
  • Replacement funds.
  • Repair funds.
  • Legal fees.
  • Dispute resolution fees paid to decide user disputes.
  • Payment for ToyRental.ca to inspect, test, certify, insure, or guarantee an item.

Paying a ToyRental.ca fee does not mean ToyRental.ca is responsible for the rental, the item, the host, the renter, the rental money, the item condition, the item safety, damage, theft, loss, non-return, injury, death, property damage, or any dispute between users.

8. Fee Disclosure Before Payment

ToyRental.ca aims to show applicable ToyRental.ca fees before a user completes checkout.

Before paying, users should review:

  • The ToyRental.ca fee amount.
  • Any applicable taxes shown at checkout.
  • The total amount payable to ToyRental.ca.
  • What the ToyRental.ca fee is for.
  • That the ToyRental.ca fee is separate from rental money paid directly to the host.
  • That ToyRental.ca does not provide insurance.
  • That refunds are limited under the Refund and Credit Policy.
  • That rental money, deposits, and damage claims are handled directly between users.

Users should not proceed with checkout unless they understand the total ToyRental.ca fee being charged and agree to the applicable policies.

If a user believes a ToyRental.ca fee was unclear, incorrect, duplicated, or charged in error, the user should contact ToyRental.ca support as soon as possible.

9. Rental Price Displayed on Listings

Listing prices are set by hosts, not ToyRental.ca.

A listing may show hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or other rental rates depending on the listing and platform features.

Hosts are responsible for ensuring that their displayed prices are accurate, current, complete, and not misleading.

Hosts are responsible for disclosing rental money and host charges directly to renters, including deposits, delivery fees, pickup fees, late fees, cleaning fees, fuel charges, repair charges, replacement charges, cancellation terms, and any other amounts the host expects the renter to pay.

ToyRental.ca does not guarantee that a host’s price, deposit, charge, or rental term is accurate, lawful, complete, current, or enforceable.

10. Booking Request Flow and Platform Fee Timing

ToyRental.ca may allow renters to submit booking requests to hosts.

ToyRental.ca may design the booking process so that a ToyRental.ca fee is charged only after the host approves a booking request, or ToyRental.ca may use another payment flow clearly shown on the platform.

If ToyRental.ca charges a platform fee after host approval, the renter is responsible for reviewing the fee, accepting the applicable policies, and completing checkout before proceeding with the paid platform feature.

A host approval on ToyRental.ca does not mean ToyRental.ca guarantees the rental, item, host, renter, payment, safety, pickup, delivery, return, or dispute outcome.

A renter paying a ToyRental.ca fee does not mean the renter has paid the host’s rental price unless the platform expressly states otherwise.

11. Checkout Authorization

By submitting payment for a ToyRental.ca fee, you represent and confirm that:

  • You are authorized to use the payment method.
  • The payment information you provide is accurate.
  • You authorize ToyRental.ca or its payment processor to charge the displayed amount.
  • You understand the ToyRental.ca fee is separate from rental money paid to the host.
  • You understand ToyRental.ca does not provide insurance.
  • You understand the ToyRental.ca fee is governed by the Refund and Credit Policy.
  • You understand that cash refunds are limited.
  • You understand that ToyRental.ca credits are usually the normal remedy where ToyRental.ca decides a remedy is appropriate.
  • You understand that user-to-user rental disputes are not automatically ToyRental.ca refund issues.

ToyRental.ca may refuse, cancel, reverse, review, delay, or restrict a payment where ToyRental.ca believes there may be fraud, abuse, error, unauthorized use, policy violation, legal risk, payment processor concern, or platform risk.

12. Payment Processor

ToyRental.ca may use a third-party payment processor to process ToyRental.ca fees.

The payment processor may collect, process, store, review, or transmit payment information according to its own terms, privacy policy, security practices, fraud rules, and legal obligations.

ToyRental.ca does not intentionally store full credit card numbers, full debit card numbers, card security codes, or complete payment credentials.

ToyRental.ca may receive and store payment-related records from the payment processor, including:

  • Payment processor customer ID.
  • Checkout session ID.
  • Payment intent ID.
  • Transaction ID.
  • Payment status.
  • Amount charged.
  • Currency.
  • Payment date and time.
  • Refund status, if applicable.
  • Dispute or chargeback status, if applicable.
  • Partial card details such as card brand and last four digits, where provided by the processor.
  • Risk, fraud, error, or payment failure information where provided by the processor.

ToyRental.ca is not responsible for payment processor outages, card issuer decisions, bank delays, declined payments, payment method restrictions, payment processor holds, fraud reviews, processor errors, currency conversion charges, foreign transaction fees, or bank fees, except where required by law.

13. Failed, Cancelled, or Expired Checkout

If a user starts checkout but does not complete payment, no ToyRental.ca fee should be charged.

If checkout is cancelled, abandoned, declined, or expires before payment is completed, no ToyRental.ca refund should be required because no completed payment should have occurred.

If a user believes they were charged despite a failed, cancelled, declined, or expired checkout, the user should contact ToyRental.ca support and provide payment records so the issue can be reviewed.

14. Duplicate Charges and Payment Errors

If a user believes they were charged twice for the same ToyRental.ca fee or charged because of a payment error, the user should contact ToyRental.ca support as soon as possible.

ToyRental.ca may request:

  • The user’s account email.
  • The booking number or reference number.
  • The listing involved.
  • The payment date.
  • The amount charged.
  • The payment processor receipt.
  • A screenshot or copy of the bank or card record.
  • Any other information reasonably needed to investigate the issue.

If ToyRental.ca confirms a duplicate ToyRental.ca charge or clear ToyRental.ca payment error, ToyRental.ca may issue a reversal, refund, credit, or other correction in accordance with the Refund and Credit Policy and applicable law.

15. Unauthorized Charges

If a user believes a ToyRental.ca fee was charged without authorization, the user should contact ToyRental.ca support immediately.

ToyRental.ca may review account records, login records, booking records, checkout records, payment processor records, messages, device information, IP information, support records, and other relevant information.

ToyRental.ca may deny a refund request where the charge appears to have resulted from the user’s account activity, shared login information, authorized use by someone with access to the user’s account or device, failure to protect account credentials, or circumstances not caused by ToyRental.ca.

Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable legal rights or payment network rights that may apply.

16. Taxes

ToyRental.ca fees may be subject to applicable taxes.

If taxes apply to a ToyRental.ca fee, ToyRental.ca may display the tax amount at checkout or include tax information in the total amount, receipt, invoice, or payment record.

Hosts are responsible for determining, collecting, reporting, and remitting any taxes that apply to rental money they receive directly from renters.

ToyRental.ca does not provide tax advice to hosts or renters.

Users should obtain professional tax advice where appropriate.

17. Currency

Unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise, ToyRental.ca fees are charged in Canadian dollars.

If a payment method, bank, card issuer, or financial institution applies exchange rates, currency conversion fees, foreign transaction fees, or other charges, those charges are not controlled by ToyRental.ca.

If a refund is issued, the refunded amount may differ from the amount shown by a user’s bank or card issuer because of exchange rates, conversion fees, bank fees, or third-party charges.

18. Receipts and Records

ToyRental.ca or its payment processor may provide a receipt, confirmation email, checkout confirmation, transaction record, or account record for ToyRental.ca fees.

Users are responsible for keeping their own records of ToyRental.ca fees, rental money paid directly between users, deposits, rental agreements, receipts, messages, and rental-related documents.

ToyRental.ca records are not a complete rental agreement between host and renter and do not prove the full terms of a user-to-user rental.

19. Refunds and Credits

ToyRental.ca refunds and credits are governed by the Refund and Credit Policy.

In most cases, ToyRental.ca fees are non-refundable once the platform service connected to the fee has been made available, performed, activated, used, or partially used.

Where ToyRental.ca decides that a remedy is appropriate, the normal remedy will usually be a ToyRental.ca credit rather than a cash refund.

Cash refunds may be considered in rare circumstances, including confirmed duplicate charges, clear ToyRental.ca payment errors, situations where ToyRental.ca determines a cash refund is appropriate, or situations where a refund is required by applicable law.

ToyRental.ca generally does not issue refunds because of problems between hosts and renters, including host cancellations, renter cancellations, no-shows, item condition disputes, item performance disputes, item safety disputes, payment disputes, deposit disputes, damage, theft, loss, injury, death, late return, non-return, missing parts, bad weather, changed plans, or user dissatisfaction.

Users should review the Refund and Credit Policy before paying any ToyRental.ca fee.

20. Credits

ToyRental.ca may issue credits in certain situations.

Unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise in writing, credits:

  • Have no cash value.
  • Are not cash refunds.
  • Are not transferable.
  • May only be used by the account to which they are issued.
  • May only be used on ToyRental.ca.
  • May only be applied toward eligible ToyRental.ca fees.
  • Cannot be used as rental money paid directly to a host.
  • Cannot be used as a deposit, damage deposit, security deposit, or insurance payment.
  • May expire.
  • May be revoked if issued by mistake, fraud, abuse, chargeback, or policy violation.

A credit does not mean ToyRental.ca admits fault, liability, wrongdoing, error, breach of contract, or legal responsibility.

21. Cancellations and No-Shows

Cancellations and no-shows involving the rental itself are generally matters between the host and renter.

If a host cancels, refuses to proceed, fails to release an item, or fails to appear, the renter must handle any rental money or deposit issue directly with the host.

If a renter cancels, changes their mind, fails to appear, refuses the item, or does not complete the rental, the host and renter must handle any rental money or deposit issue directly with each other.

ToyRental.ca fees are generally not automatically refundable because a host cancels, a renter cancels, a user does not show up, weather changes, plans change, an item is unavailable, an item is not as expected, or a user is dissatisfied with another user.

ToyRental.ca may review cancellation-related issues and may decide, in its discretion and subject to applicable law, whether a credit, refund, warning, account restriction, listing removal, or other platform action is appropriate.

22. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Users should contact ToyRental.ca support before starting a chargeback or payment dispute about a ToyRental.ca fee.

ToyRental.ca may dispute chargebacks where ToyRental.ca believes the charge was authorized, valid, disclosed, correctly processed, or connected to platform services that were made available.

A chargeback or payment dispute may result in:

  • Review of account activity.
  • Temporary account restriction.
  • Restriction of booking features.
  • Restriction of messaging features.
  • Restriction of listing features.
  • Cancellation of credits where permitted.
  • Collection of unpaid ToyRental.ca fees where permitted.
  • Suspension or termination for fraud, abuse, repeated disputes, or policy violations.

ToyRental.ca will not restrict a user solely for exercising a legal right that cannot be waived.

23. Fraud, Abuse, and Suspicious Activity

ToyRental.ca may refuse, cancel, delay, review, reverse, restrict, or investigate payments where ToyRental.ca believes there may be fraud, abuse, unauthorized activity, suspicious activity, policy violations, or platform risk.

Prohibited payment-related conduct includes:

  • Using stolen payment methods.
  • Using unauthorized payment methods.
  • Submitting false payment information.
  • Submitting fake payment confirmations.
  • Creating duplicate accounts to obtain credits, promotions, or refunds.
  • Making false refund claims.
  • Making false unauthorized-charge claims.
  • Using chargebacks after receiving platform services.
  • Coordinating with another user to manipulate fees, refunds, credits, bookings, reviews, or disputes.
  • Attempting to bypass ToyRental.ca fee rules, checkout, security, or account restrictions.

ToyRental.ca may revoke credits, deny refunds, remove listings, restrict features, suspend accounts, terminate accounts, preserve records, and report conduct where ToyRental.ca believes fraud or abuse has occurred.

24. Promotions, Discounts, Coupons, and Free Credits

ToyRental.ca may offer promotions, discounts, coupons, launch credits, referral credits, advertising credits, goodwill credits, or other incentives.

Unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise in writing, promotions, discounts, coupons, and credits:

  • Have no cash value.
  • Are not refundable.
  • Are not transferable.
  • May expire.
  • May be limited to one account, one user, one booking, one listing, one category, one location, or one promotional period.
  • May not be combined with other offers unless ToyRental.ca allows it.
  • May be changed, suspended, revoked, or cancelled at any time.
  • May be revoked if ToyRental.ca suspects fraud, abuse, fake accounts, duplicate accounts, self-dealing, or policy violations.

25. Featured Listings, Advertising, and Promotional Placements

ToyRental.ca may offer paid featured listings, promoted listings, advertising placements, homepage placements, category boosts, search boosts, or other visibility-related tools.

ToyRental.ca does not guarantee clicks, views, messages, booking requests, approvals, rentals, income, ranking, conversion, or results from any promotional feature.

Unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise at the time of purchase or applicable law requires otherwise, fees for featured listings, promoted listings, advertising placements, homepage placements, category boosts, search boosts, or similar promotional tools are generally non-refundable once the service has started, been scheduled, been displayed, been activated, or been made available.

If a promoted listing is removed because the user violated ToyRental.ca policies, the related promotional fee is generally not refundable.

26. Subscription Fees

ToyRental.ca may offer subscriptions or recurring paid plans in the future.

If subscriptions are offered, the subscription terms shown at purchase should explain the price, billing period, renewal terms, cancellation method, included features, and applicable refund or credit terms.

Unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise at the time of purchase or applicable law requires otherwise, subscription fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins.

Cancelling a subscription generally stops future renewal charges but does not automatically refund charges for the current billing period unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise.

27. Payment Feature Changes

ToyRental.ca may change its fees, pricing model, free features, paid features, promotions, checkout flow, payment processor, refund process, credit rules, and payment-related features at any time.

Fee changes generally apply going forward and do not automatically affect completed payments unless ToyRental.ca states otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise.

ToyRental.ca may test, modify, suspend, or discontinue payment-related features, including platform fees, booking fees, connection fees, featured listings, subscriptions, credits, promotions, and checkout options.

28. No Insurance, Escrow, or Guarantee

ToyRental.ca does not provide insurance of any kind.

ToyRental.ca does not operate an escrow service for rental money between users.

ToyRental.ca does not guarantee:

  • That any rental will occur.
  • That any host will release an item.
  • That any renter will appear.
  • That any item exists.
  • That any item is safe.
  • That any item is available.
  • That any item is legal.
  • That any item is insured.
  • That any item is properly maintained.
  • That any item is as described.
  • That any renter will pay rental money.
  • That any host will refund rental money.
  • That any deposit will be returned.
  • That any item will be returned.
  • That any item will be returned on time.
  • That any item will be returned undamaged.
  • That any dispute will be resolved.

Users are responsible for their own insurance, payment arrangements, deposits, written agreements, safety checks, documentation, and legal remedies.

29. User Responsibility Before Paying

Before paying a ToyRental.ca fee, users should:

  • Review the fee amount.
  • Review the total amount payable to ToyRental.ca.
  • Review the Refund and Credit Policy.
  • Understand that the fee is separate from rental money paid to the host.
  • Confirm whether additional rental money is owed directly to the host.
  • Confirm deposit terms directly with the host.
  • Confirm pickup and return terms directly with the host.
  • Confirm the item is suitable for the renter’s intended use.
  • Confirm safety, training, licence, permit, insurance, and supervision requirements.
  • Understand that ToyRental.ca does not provide insurance.
  • Understand that the rental is arranged directly between host and renter.
  • Understand that ToyRental.ca is not responsible for user-to-user disputes.

30. Limitation of Liability for Payment Issues

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToyRental.ca and its owners, operators, directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, service providers, successors, and assigns are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, aggravated, exemplary, economic, or other damages or losses arising from or related to payment issues, checkout issues, platform fees, payment processor issues, rental money, user-to-user payments, deposits, damage deposits, chargebacks, refunds, credits, payment disputes, bank fees, currency conversion, payment delays, failed payments, unauthorized payments, or user disputes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToyRental.ca’s total liability for any ToyRental.ca fee issue will not exceed the amount of the ToyRental.ca fee actually paid by the user for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Some laws may not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability. In those cases, ToyRental.ca’s liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

31. Legal Rights

This disclosure applies to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Nothing in this disclosure is intended to limit, exclude, waive, or reduce any legal right that cannot be limited, excluded, waived, or reduced under applicable law.

If any part of this disclosure conflicts with a non-waivable legal right, the legal right will apply only to the extent required by law, and the rest of this disclosure will continue to apply.
